The TH-D5 is a 5.1-channel system comprised of a DVD receiver, five speakers and a powered subwoofer. It offers the option of a front surround set-up and feature "Made for iPod" compliance, an iPod stand and cable, USB Host, DivX Ultra playback and HDMI connectivity with up - conversion. This system is designed to complement the latest generation of sleekly styled rear projection and flat panel TVs. The black receiver has massive design, which reminds you of Hi-End analog amplifier and illuminated touch panel controls, while the speakers are likewise designs. As for playback options, this Home Entertainment system easily accommodates both the old and the new, combining DVD/CD and Radio Data System Tuner playback with the ability to handle digital audio and video files from a wide variety of sources.Recognizing that not all consumers have a room that can accommodate rear channel speakers behind the listening area, the TH-D5 offers JVC's Front Surround technology. Consumers have the option of a conventional 5.1-channel set-up, or the surround left and surround right speakers can be set up in front, flanking the center channel speaker and with the Front Surround mode selected. This creates virtual surround left and right channels, creating a surround effect without the need for rear speakers.

KEF has always been renowned for design integrity, and the new KHT 2005.2 is no exception. The parabolic cast aluminium enclosures of the satellite speakers are computer optimised to minimise internal resonance and distortion for a purer, cleaner sound. And being identical, there's a perfect tonal match between the front and rear surround speakers and the centre channel, which can be placed horizontally either above or below the TV. The ingenious base of each speaker allows you to place them virtually anywhere - on any flat surface, at any angle on walls, or on the optional stands. And as they're fully magnetically shielded, there's no risk of interference with other equipment nearby. With the original KHT 2005 system, KEF engineers wanted to create a flexible, compact system that delivered audiophile quality 3D sound at an affordable price - and the awards it received underline how well they succeeded. KHT 2005.2 has taken things a step further, with a comprehensively upgraded specification that brings listening enjoyment to a new level: perfect sound, wherever you are. A powerful, accurate subwoofer adds weight, depth and intensity to the 3D sound image, and the output of KEF's new slot port design has been increased by 10dB at 30Hz. The integral 250 Watt amplifier drives a forward-firing long-throw 250mm (10) bass unit with exceptionally low distortion characteristics for clean, well defined low frequency response throughout the room. This generously extended bass can be fine-tuned to suit your set-up and preferences, with a variable slope switch to ensure seamless integration with the satellite speakers, a ground lift switch to prevent hum and switchable cinema/music modes to provide extra punch for reproducing the full impact of movie special effects.
Customer Review: Great buy
This is a great buy. Most small speakers like this are missing a lot of midrange sound, but these suprised me. When you pick one of them up, you'll know you're dealing with quality because they're heavy as hell. They mount easily to the walls or sit great on shelves too. The sub is plenty to fill even a large living room. It sounds better than any Bose system I've heard (I've always thought Bose is overrated anyway) and is much cheaper. I paired it with the SR-605 Onkyo receiver. Great receiver by they way. HDMI 1.3 compatible, 7.1 output, 90W per ch, a plethora of inputs all go to one HDMI out. Great buy!
