Customer Review: My poor, poor mother-in-law...
...actually bought one of these, and you should've seen the look on her face when she came over to my house and heard a REAL home theater system! I felt so sorry for her, I offered to come over to her house and check that all the connections were properly set up. Well, I went and saw that yes all the speaker cables were correctly put in. In fact, she had gone out and used those gazillion dollar Monster cables, poor thing---she was always such a gullible, trusting woman. But that was that: there simply was no way around the simple fact that for the outrageous amount she paid for this system, it produced barely mediocre sound. Just lots of treble and some exaggerated bass, which would be okay if you only watch bang-bang-wham-bam-kaboom action movies. However, she loves musicals and dramas---which only exposed the total scam that this overhyped and overpriced Bose stuff really is. To their credit, Bose does however honor their money-back policy which UPS and FedEx probably appreciate greatly.

This is God himself.Make no distinctions about it.I have heard from many so called "Audiophiles"(basically a bunch of losers who think earth shattering bass and big balls is all there is to life) that Bose products are a waste,they are useless,they are over priced,bla,bla bla and the works.that is until i entered the Bose Store in Uptown,Bangalore,with my Pink Floyd DVD.Once it started playing "Shine on you crazy diamond", time stood still.Believe me.No one moved for another 6 mins,and that is the power of Bose,my friends. it is just different.it is just too good.it makes a clear distinction between hard bass,and depth bass.You get clarity and the depth of music is amazing.this is for the true connosiuers of music.audiophiles included. i suggest life isnt complete without a Bose.when u die,eventually,u will carry the musical tones in ur immortal journey to another world. ps: listen to Cafe Del Mar Vol.7 and Buddha Bar VOL 4 CD1,when it is raining and is cold outside.u will experience bliss.u will experience a high that will put crack and extacy to shame.this is life.this is why we all live.eventually help ur soul get liberated,by the Bose.Jesus ain't do it man.Bose do.

Customer Review: Fire hazard
My wife purchased this system for me last Christmas to go with my new Samsung plasma. After operating the system for approximately 3 months, one night it began sparking and smoking and almost caught fire. I sent the dvd unit to Samsung who, in turn, sent it to some third party for repair. Rather than replacing the unit, the repair company replaced some parts and sent the original unit back to me. The unit still reaks of burnt plastic smell. This may be an isolated incident, but beware and do not leave the unit turned on while away for your home. I have been satisfied with its operation otherwise.

I'm on my fourth head unit, and this one only works intermittently. DVDs don't play, sound cuts out, on and on. Also, worst remote EVER. What's tragic is that while the head unit is clearly a piece of junk, the speakers are all great, and it sounds fantastic when it works. Now Cambridge isn't selling these any more. No surprise.

bought this 3 months ago. main unit burned out. base cube has lots of "connection problems". However, when it was working it sounded great. It was very stubborn to play certain dvd's.(took a long time to load many dvd's and cd'd. i am returning it tomorrow.

I purchased this product because I have a small apartment, space is an issue, and I did not want to install the typical 5 speakers in most home theater-in-a-box systems. I hooked it up to an inexpensive, no-name 32" LCD flat-screen HDTV and the system isn't bad and takes up very little space. It only has 100 watt outage power, but the sound is pretty good. It is basically a progressive scan DVD/CD player with a speaker system. Although the speakers are wall-mountable, I did not mount them. So far so good and I am happy with the purchase. The system fit my needs perfectly.

Customer Review: Great buy
This is a great buy. Most small speakers like this are missing a lot of midrange sound, but these suprised me. When you pick one of them up, you'll know you're dealing with quality because they're heavy as hell. They mount easily to the walls or sit great on shelves too. The sub is plenty to fill even a large living room. It sounds better than any Bose system I've heard (I've always thought Bose is overrated anyway) and is much cheaper. I paired it with the SR-605 Onkyo receiver. Great receiver by they way. HDMI 1.3 compatible, 7.1 output, 90W per ch, a plethora of inputs all go to one HDMI out. Great buy!

I bought this system at sears for about 120$ which is an excellent price, this system can really output! . it says 800 watts but i think the ohms make its ouput a little lower . the speakers it comes with are very good but i would suggest switching them out for something a little better , The bass Is excellent , it has three bass levels and is very powerful during movies and radio. so far i have had no problems with it , i got in july so about 6 months , its sound is crisp and clear, elegant looking and small with a great dvd player and usb input.i added an extra subwoofer , for fun and boy is it nice , overall it has very nice features, controls ,sound and settings . everything except an alarm clock feature oh well , its an excellent system!!!!!!

I was able to accompish two projects purchasing this unit. First, was to own a very good theater system for under $500. The second, was to be able to eliminate the need for a second receiver which powered my home stereo system. I took the advise from some in their past reviews regarding the speaker wires. Did not use, purchased a heavier gauge wire. Only other feature I would liked to have had, would be smaller size surround speakers. No regrets with this purchase. It is hard to find a product that will meet all your requirements. I can always buy the smaller speakers separately.
Customer Review: Great sound and connectivity
I bought this system for my home theater and I love it. My media room already had four speakers (two front and two rear) flush mounted in the walls, but I wanted to buy a full Home Theater in a Box (HTiB) to get the other speakers for full surround. I also planned to hook this system up to a PS3 for Blu-Ray playback. Most HTiB systems come with a receiver that has built a built in DVD player. I didn't want to get a wasted DVD that way. Also, those systems have very few input options. What I loved about this box is what you see of the images of the back. This receiver has all kinds input so I had no problem connecting the cable, PS3, and PS2 plus I could connect a few other game boxes if I wanted. The sound is remarkable. I'm often tempted to play the THX intro on movies over and over again just because it sounds so good across the whole range. High pitches are well produced and you can literally feel the bass. The self-configuring option is simple to do and works really well. Some people will note the minor drawback that the HDMI audio is only a pass through and you have to use other cables to connect the audio. Yes, this leads to buying two extra optical audio cables and makes the setup a tiny bit harder, but I didn't find it to be all that much of a challenge and the result was well worth it. As a last note, Onkyo packages this well. The UPS guy literally rolled the box up to my house and the Styrofoam packaging got crushed in some places, but it did its job and protected all the components which were in perfect shape.

Philips MCD288 Micro DVD Home Theater System with Subwoofer A very stylish system. It sounds good, but not great. If you plan to listen to it at low volumes there is a background hum that is quite annoying. At volume 4 and above, sounds really nice. Unfortunately, we bought it for our infant to listen to lullabies to get to sleep. We set it at 3 and there's a slight hum that annoys me. I'm sure my daughter won't mind, but if I had to do it over again I would not have purchased this one. There is no clock feature on this either.

Customer Review: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!
In the beginning I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, color coded, easy to set up and a good starter HT System with ok sound. But that soon changed. Three or four months after I had the unit, CD's & DVD's wouldn't load. I would open/eject a few times and they would eventually load. But then it just stopped loading altogether and it would display "disk error". I called support and was told that it must be the quality of the CD or DVD. I was told to get a disk cleaner. I sent them the unit and now we are going back and forth that it's now not under warranty! This product is a LEMON! I wish I had seen all the other reviews out there telling of this major issue! Samsung should recall this product!
Customer Review: Nice, bit I have an issue
I agree with all the positive reviews here, the sounds is nice. I did notive an improvement in the picture with progressive scan with the component cables. I have a JVC 52" rear projection HDTV. However, there is a glitch in the progressive scan, I'm not sure how to describe it, but it seems to glitch/freeze/spaz for a split second. Not sure what is going on, might be the TV, but progressive scan works fine with my Gamecube.

As with the other reviews, I bought it for it's design and wireless rear speakers feature, and it's a Sony, so it must be good! Ha! The CD/DVD player is in fact the worst I've ever seen, and I've had a few over the years. I would much rather have a single disk system that works well, instead of this 5 disk system that gets 'lost in space'... It's extremely s.l.o.w and frustrating to use. I've owned this unit for over a year and my wife still won't touch it, as she see's the frustration I go through everytime I use the CD/DVD player (or try to anyway). The sound is only middle of the road ... not worth what I paid. Sorry Sony ... never again, there's too many other units on the market !
Customer Review: Basically junk
I bought this system a year ago, a family gift for Xmas. Christmas Eve this year, it swallowed a rented DVD and wouldn't let it go until I attacked it with screwdrivers. Now it seems to work again, but I'm going to dump it in the trash anyway. Basically, it's a piece of junk: 1. The sound is like it's coming up from a pool of mud. 2. The DVD player is slo-o-o-ow, and the control over DVD playing poor. My $69 Toshiba DVD player is worlds better mechanically. 3. The whole system is made up of proprietary components, so if you decide on a new amp/receiver/DVD player, you're out of luck. The speakers have to go too. Maybe it's all for the best. Mine is out the door tomorrow morning. I'm only afraid this may be a discontinued model, and no one will have the chance to benefit from this opinion.

If your goal is to get good sound for your home theater without dropping big bucks, take a look at this unit. Granted, a subwoofer of this size with only 50 watts cannot compete with a big system, but if you want deep bass, be prepared to pay a whole lot more. It sounded to me like this system put out a decent level and taughtness of bass down to about 50 Hz and could play fairly dynamically up to 90 or 95 dB. Above that level, the system sounded compressed and the smoothness of the midrange went away. But at a reasonable volume level, the mids are well reproduced and smooth. The controls have adequate sensitivity to allow you to set equalization and surround effects to match your taste for a wide variety of movie soundtracks. This is a bargain.

I bought this for my husband for a present. Despite it being an obscure, unheard-of brand, this system was better than I expected as far as sound quality. I also really like that the speakers are small (about 4"x4"x4"), so they are unobtrusive in our really small living room. The only con is really how short the wires are. We ran the rear speakers up to the roof, and then around the room to behind the couch. The area is only approx 10'x8', and the wires barely reached. The front speakers didn't even have enough lenghth to reach from the subwoofer on the floor, to the top corners at the front of the room (6-8' of lenghth needed). But all in all, a great sounding system, and perfect for my budget and needs. In the future maybe I'll get a higher quality one, but this is just fine for now.

This speaker set out-performs it's price and competition. Decided to upgrade receiver for blu-ray TrueHD audio & planned to leave Infinty speaker set in place. Got a great deal on JBL CS6100's that I couldn't pass up, and it came in before new Pioneer VSX-1018. Hooked them up to old Pioneer VSX-D811S expecting some improvement over Infinity... and was blown away by the sound difference. Bass is tight and punchy and sounds much bigger than 10" without any boominess. Center channel is clean and crisp and surrounds create nice sound envelope without overpowering the center. Excellent construction, wire-connections and mounting system... and they look so good they draw compliments from visitors before I even power them up! Now that the new receiver is in, TrueHD sounds better at my house than it did in Best Buy's home theater room!
Customer Review: An unbeatable deal for the price!
I was actually a little hesitant about these speakers. I was torn between these and the Harman Kardon HKTS-18's. I actually found these on eBay for an unbeatable deal. Well, anyways, on to the speakers.... Wow! I never thought these speakers could so good! I bought them to replace some old Sony satellites that just had to go. And boy, am I ever glad that I bought these speakers. I bought them along with Onkyo TX-SR606 and they sound incredible. I've played Blu-ray movies on them and heard DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD, and PCM sound. OMG, I've never heard sound so clear. After hearing these tracks, I will never go back to standard DVD ever again. The speakers are so clear and have lots of punch. The subwoofer is amazing too. It pumps out some SERIOUS bass. I also like the design of the speakers. They have a glossy, aesthetically pleasing look that will fit almost any home. Probably the only negative thing I would say is that the mounting options that come with it are not the best. I prefer to use speaker stands, but I had to buy other brackets and screws in order for them to fit on my old stands. It wasn't too bad, but it would be nice if all manufacturers would agree on one design for speaker brackets.... Anyway, I've absolutely loved these speakers. If you want the best bang for your buck, get these speakers. They probably will not satisfy audiophile ears, but for those who are new to home theater products, they will blow you away. Skip Bose and get these magnificent speakers! JBL is awesome!

I just bought the RT2870 from Wal-Mart which for all intensive purposes looks just like the RT2770. I hooked it up last night and have since used it to play movies and CD's. The sound is very good, but not excellent (what else can you expect for this price?). I can't imagine anyone needing to turn it up all the way to get decent sound. If I turned mine all the way up, I think my windows would blow!! People have also complained about the speaker wires. Two of the speakers (one left, one right) have VERY long wires, I can't imagine it not being enough, unless you just have a huge living room (mine is 12x18, and I have tons of slack in the wire). The other two are not as long. I never could get the sound from just my TV to come through, and I hooked it up just like it said. So unfortunately I guess that means that my sons' PS2 isn't going to play through this, and that would have been cool. Also, as far as the tuner goes, I could only pick up 2 stations, and neither of them are of interest to me. So, the only good I'm getting out of it thus far is for DVDs and CDs. This is my first ever home theater so it's good enough for me I guess! Thank goodness for the color-coded wires, it made setting up a breeze (and I was quite nervous about it, as I am not mechanically inclined and usually *hate* putting things together). As far as recommendations go, if you are a serious entertainment junkie and like all of your stuff tricked out, spend double this price and get something that will probably suit you more. Our entertainment needs are pretty basic (and so is our budget) so this suits us fine. Just be warned, the receiver box is HUGE and you have to give it lots of space (4" on each side and 2" on the top) to keep it from overheating (and burning completely out!)...and they aren't lying, the thing runs HOT. Walmart.com has a Pioneer surround sound system for around $250, and if I were to recommend something a little higher priced and better quality, it would probably be that. You usually can't go wrong with Pioneer, but RCA tends to be hit-and-miss. Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase!

It seemed nice while it lasted, which was about 4 months. This unit runs very hot and I even had fans on it. One day it just had too much and quit on me. Pros: Lots of inputs, looks nice, decent sound. Cons: Subwoofer came with a vibration, probably bad seal. I bought mine recertified, so this may also be why. Not very loud, had to turn up to 45/50 to get decent volume. Other Comments: This was my first Surround Sound System with a Receiver. I have upgraded to a Pioneer VSX-D812 which blows the RCA way out of the water. If you're looking for something cheap to put in a small room and not use alot of power or much noise the RCA is fine. If you're looking for a decent Surround Sound System, look elsewhere.

Customer Review: Not for use in apartments!
I went with these speakers because I used to have Cerwin-Vega car audio equipment and Concert speakers. They have always been very impressive to say the least. I am happy to say they did not disappoint. I have my CVHD 5.1 system hooked up to an Onkyo TX-SR605S. The pros of this system are that it sounds every bit as good playing music as it does playing movies. It sounds very good at high volume. This is one of the only systems in its category that I could find that comes with a 12" sub and it really makes a difference. The speakers are big and noticeable, which I like, but I can understand some won't. The only 2 cons I can think of are that the speakers come with no stands so they do have to be wall mounted and the sub tends to have a ground loop issue. I overcame the ground loop issue with one of those 3 prong to 2 prong converter things. Given that is not the best idea it is the cheapest and easiest fix if you experience this issue. Another issue I have read about on this site is that the sub shuts off at low volume. This is true but can also be easily resolved by turning up the sub output on your receiver and the volume down on the sub itself. So in closing, you are getting some awesome sound from a company with a history for amazing audio equipment in all fields, for a reasonable price. I love the set I have and would not trade them for anything. In fact I plan on buying 2 more satellite speakers and making my system 7.1. Do keep in mind there is a reason they call themselves the LOUD speaker company!

After having a Bose 28 system for a little while (and being very dissatisfied)I Sold it and bought the CVHD system & a Yamaha RX-V861 Receiver.What a difference, the bose system might be fine for someone without any concern over audio quality or tone def, But the CVHD system sounds unbelievable at any sound level.One word of caution this system will ROCK your house, So as the other reviewer stated if you live in an apartment this system will get you evicited in short order (its hard to resist not cranking it up LOUD). The only con to this system is the speakers are pretty big & are only offered in black (I'm going to paint the rears white).

Customer Review: Very happy with the Sony system
I've had the Sony 7200 for 3 months and have nothing but quality clear sound. All the components are connected via HDMI except one. Components are Samsung LCD TV, Sony PS3, included up-convert 1080P DVD player, HD DirectTV, and the 8 year old VCR. The included DVD player nearly matches the Blu-ray in picture and sound quality. They are controlled by a sweet Logitech universal remote. I like the TV and movie sound more than the entry/mid priced 7 year old Onkyo system it replaces. Sony 7200 provides high quality sound and plenty of gush in the highs and lows. It is definitely louder than the previous system. I had the base set at 5/8, and later tuned it down a bit to the middle. The base has a major league punch. For CD music listening, I'd say it ties with the Onkyo, which is fantastic. The Onkyo and the CRT TV are moved to the man-cave. One thing I was looking for in this purchase was that it would provide plenty of volume. And it does. I have the volume meter turned to 20 to 25 for normal TV viewing, 15 to 18 for evening viewing, and 30-35 when viewing sports or movies with company. Believe me, 30 is loud, 35 is booming. I don't know how loud it gets and haven't read up on it. To me from 15 to 35 range is more than acceptable, anything louder is reserved for rock concerts, or to "blow off someone's clothes" I guess. The build, including the speakers, are of high quality fit-&-finish and solid. I'd highly recommend this product as the home theatre center piece. Very pleased with all this performance for a nominal price.
Customer Review: Solid entry level receiver with great features.
As my first big box Home Theater system, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I feel the price was worth it. The system looks great. The speakers are a decent size, and when set up, can look very attractive in a modern themed room. The receiver itself is very slick with with a nice design. The receiver has plenty of hookups that will be suitable for most people. With 3 HDMI inputs, you should be able to hook up all your Hi-Definition components. One great feature is the ability to process the audio through the HDMI. Some receivers can't handle this and you have to deal with complex connections involving analog to digital, digital to analog, etc. This receiver is great for a PS3 owner because it can take advantage of the loss less sound formats. (Dolby TrueHD, DTS MA, etc.) I haven't hooked up the included 1080p upscaling DVD player and don't know if I will because I have a PS3. Therefore I cannot comment on that component. The remote is pretty weak. It has a hard time working from further distances and it is in no way universal. I would recommend a fairly high-end universal remote. I was dealing with three remotes and it wasn't pretty. The included speaker cable is pretty standard and if you're running some cables under the carpet or through the wall or something, you will most likely need some longer cables to reach the surround speakers. The sound is great. The powered 8 inch subwoofer really packs a punch for movies and games. The different standard-def audio options sound great with your cable box. There is an auto calibration setup which consists of placing the included microphone at the same height and location you would be sitting. You then start the test and the speakers all spit out some white noise to tell the receiver how far away, how close to the other speakers, etc, everything is. Very useful. If you would rather do things yourself, each speaker can be individually adjusted to your liking. All in all, I would say this system is a great bang for your buck. Works ok with some DVDs. The only reason I bought was for the radio included in but it was not worth the trouble. In 12 months it has spent atleast 2 months getting fixed. The DVD doesnt open and they dont know whats the fix for it. Said they added some lubricant to open but it failed again. Then they changed the laser head dont know why but even that doesnt seem to help

I've owned this system for two years now, and there hasn't been one issue with it...it's rock-solid. It runs cool, and looks great too, more on this later. If I have any crit at all, it would be that mounting brackets for the speakers are not included. There was not even a recommended part number in the documentation. I bought a generic set and they worked just fine. The speaker cabs are MDF, so screws fit snugly. I'm using this in my modest basement theater, and it shakes the whole house, very robust. Honestly, I can't imagine needing more power than this unless you're almost deaf. In fact, the fetching Mrs. Brew is constantly suggesting that we turn it down. Configuration is a breeze, and the remote is easy to understand, although it is not backlit. Imagine my delight when 18 months later I bought a Sony DVP-NS75H DVD player and it was an exact matched component! Matching size, front-panel display and connections. Just hooked up an optical cable between the two and was in business. As an audio professional, I could not be more delighted with the performance of this system at this incredible price.

Customer Review: Space efficient, but some limitations
Clever design is space efficient. the "control unit" is only 6x2x2" with all the amps actually located in the Subwoofer. So you do not need an extra shelf for the receiver. I used it in "front" surround mode with the 2 center speakers moved to the center and the main and surround speakers stacked on each other on each side of the TV Soundstage has good width. Sound is decent but size of speakers limits the "richness". The biggest problem was that the decoder did not handle the different TV sound broadcast modes well. I hooked my DVR to the unit via optical cable and the unit handled sound from the HD 5.1 channels well. But it could not handle the stereo from either digital or analog channels via this hookup. I could switch to 2 cable RCS hookup from the DVR--but then you lose the digital 5.1 encoding from the HD channels. And while the unit is compact there still are quite a few wires to deal since all 6 speakers have to be connected to the subwoofer/amplifier.

If you want a compact and simple sound system, this it the one. I like the fact that it doesn't have those huge receivers and subwoofer. Receiver is integrated into the subwoofer in this system, saving you a lot of space, and gives you the neat look. And it doesn't require you to route the rear speakers to the back to give you surround sound. It of course can't compare to having real speakers in the back, but for ordinary (non audio enthusiast) people, this it good enough, especially you don't like wires running all around your house. The inconvenience is that you've to scroll through the menu every time you want to change some setting, which could be a bit troublesome. And the display is only single line, so the info displayed is quite limited. But then you give up some convenience for it's neat look.

When it was working the player often made grinding noises when I would play a dvd. Then it stopped working altogether two weeks after the warranty expired. Also the sound levels were not nearly loud enough. Invest the extra money and get a better system.

3 weeks after i received the item, it stopped working. everything worked fine until one morning we put it on to watch a movie and the drawer wont open and their was a terrible humming sound. the Radio was working but not the disc changer....we couldnt even get the other discs we had in it out! I live in the caribbean, and it is not worth the cost to send it back up to the manufacturer and have it re-shipped to me....it might be better to purchase a new home theatre system of a different brand !

This Panasonic SC-PT760 is the second Home Theater System I have owned in the past year, the first being a Panasonic 960. Both these systems are truly a wonder considering the relatively low price. Sound through all channels is crisp and clear and full of features found in systems costing 2X the price. Workmanship is precise and clean making for simple construction. The Owners Manual could be a tad more precise and easy to follow but when I required some simplification, the Panasonic techs were readily available via the Internet. Bravo Panasonic for yet another affordable,quality product. We are quickly becoming a "Panasonic Family Member".

The system works great but isn't as wireless as it leads you to believe... had to get into the attic to hide the wires for the background speakers - So while it's a "wireless kit" for the rear speakers they are wireless from the main system but have their own reciever that they are wired to wherever you chose to set them up. We were hoping to find a product to avoid that... It wasn't worth the hassle of sending it back and shopping more since we were excited to get our new TV and surround sound set up... It offers great sound and relatively easy to set up (outside of the wiring).

Customer Review: Good for the garbage bin - Don't waste your money
I agree with all the reviewers below. This equipment looks great on paper. You seem to get great features for the money. But just like other people, the system we bought showed problems playing some DVDs ~8months after opening the box. It would play only some DVDs and music CDs. And after a year, it doesn't play anything at all. The sound is not that great as they tell you either. Ok, if you stand at a specific distance from your speakers, and you place them so that they ALL face you... Then you hear ok. But just move a few centimeters from this blessed spot and it doesn't sound better than my laptop speakers. And you can't understand dialogues unless you push the volume to the point that all my neighbors can tell I am watching a movie. Don't waste your money and time with this piece of crap.
Customer Review: NEVER Buy this!. Stops working after 1-2 years
I bought a HT700 two years ago and initially I liked it, played great. After 2 years it stoped playing all music CDs. Both mp3 and original audio CDs. Couple of months after that, it stopped playing 50% of blockbuster DVDs. I have a 5 year old $75 samsung player, that still plays great all kind of stuff. I don't think it's just the problem with this one panasonic system. It's all of Panasonic. It's just a piece of low quality stuff. They are just trying to sell to american market this piece of junk. Never buy any panasonic anymore unless you want keep buying every two years!!. - A disappointed customer

Customer Review: Wii to Receiver to Projector and More
If you are looking for a way to use your Wii with a home theater projector, probably the best way is to run your Wii through a home theater system like the Onkyo HT-SR 908. The problem that you have if you try to hook your Wii directly up to the projector is that there is no good place to put the sensor bar. With the home theater system, you plug the Wii into the home theater receiver which is generally in the front of the room. Put your sensor bar in the front of the room, then run the video cable from the receiver to the projector. I shopped carefully to find an affordable system that had adequate video inputs for the present and future, with composite, S-Video, component and HDMI inputs and outputs. The 605 receiver in the HT-SP908 fits the bill. Overall, the system works very well and does what it is supposed to do. For those considering a refurbished system, I can tell you that I bought mine refurbished, but you'd never know it, all cables and labels were included. I may eventually upgrade my speaker wires, but I'm using the wires that came with the system, and it really hasn't been a problem. I have some nitpicks that weren't significant enough to deduct a full star - but almost. First, the remote has no light. Home theaters are dark, so the remote needs a light. Second, the speakers are not power efficient. You don't hear much until you turn it up to 50 (out of 100). Third: the system apparently does not upconvert signals that come through the component inputs. The component output feeds whatever component resolution you feed into it. (Don't worry about this too much, because your television or projector can probably upconvert the signal anyway.) As far as I can tell, you can't send an input source into the receiver via HDMI then output it via component cables. Finally, I want to encourage HTIB manufacturers to incorporate HD-radio tuners. How long has HD-Radio been out, 5 years? Also, since a lot of buyers of HTIB systems use them with projectors, and projectors don't have tuners, it would be nice if manufacturers would include television (ATSC) tuners in their systems.

It is a decent HTIB system. It meets almost all my needs. The Audyssey 2EQ system made the setup very easy. The sound is much better than normal HTIB. The round shape speakers look nice. There is a problems though. The receiver cannot receive pure audio signal, such as music CD, through HDMI if it is connected to TV also via HDMI and TV is not powered on. Using digital co-axis solved the issue. Another couple minor issues are the speaker wire is thin (but OK) and the battery for my DVD remote control was missing in the package.

If you are looking for a decent home theatre system without having to get a degree in audio engineering, this is the system to get. It's fine if you are looking for decent surround sound and are not exceptionally fussy. The sound is clean with good base from the sub woofer. You can't beat the price. Audiophiles will probably stick their noses up in the air but they will spend ten times the amount for a home theatre system that won't be 10 times better.

This home theater system works perfectly for me. I wasn't looking for anything too big, just something good enough to enhance my movies and games, and this gets the job done. It has a good amount of inputs to hook up to a number things, such as my PS3, tv, and DVD player. The sound quality is good and loud enough for my me in my room. This isn't going to be the loudest system obviously, but for the price you can't pass up a quality product like this.

I bought this mainly to play video games on the xbox 360 and the ps3, setting this up wasnt hard to do, did it myself and i use this in my bedroom not the living room, i must say it does have more than enough power and works pretty sweet, the max volume is around 60 but on an average i use it around 24, i would recommend using reading the manual cause there is alot of features and setting you can mess with, the auto calabration is pretty sweet. and the subwoffer does what it is suppose to, can be adjusted to your liking. For the price this is a great deal.
Customer Review: Still can't quite make my mind up on this one.
I purchased this after careful review for one main reason - the HDMI hookups. I had looked at the BOSE and other Sony systems that work well with DVD but don't do anything else. I'm not a techno-geek....I can just about keep up with Pro Logic vs. DTS vs. Dolby Digital..... I've had it up and working for 3-4 months now using Rocketfish wireless rear speakers and connected to a Sony XBR TV, PS3, Comcast box, DVD player & Roku soundbridge media streamer (I love my toys). There are some good points: - it does give you more powerful sound. Against the XBR's built in sound (which is no slouch I might add), you REALLY notice the difference in bass, volume and surround effect. - the hookups are excellent........many, many options. - It's unobtrusive looks wise. - there are many, many, menu options to play with. What I don't like so much: - On a very few occassions I started to notice a slight lag in the sound when it was ran through this (as opposed to the TV) so that the lip synching was slightly out. Mucking about with TV settings seems to have cured that. - I couldn't (and still can't) get the auto-calibration to work, keeps erroring out for a variety of reasons. - I must admit to being underwhelmed by the sound. Even on Blu Ray discs it doesn't quite have the surround sound "wow" that those demos in the store have. It's loud enough, but lacking, even on Blu Ray. - with the different sources you find yourself wanting/needing to change the bass/treble settings. Lack of a dedicated button on the front means you need to wade through menus....bit of a pain. - as others have commented, you really need to crank up the volume to 80% or above to make it good listening. It may look overly negative, but the negatives are all relatively minor. To me, it boils down to price. For the price this is a good system and better than the crap below it. Will it give you the "wow" factor the +$1,000 systems do.........no.

I have been a fan of Cerwin Vega for years now, and this 2.1 system is no let down. The satellites have incredible clarity and control even into the high volumes. Nothing beats the sound of Cerwin's clean, distortion free and incredibly deep base. This is a smart buy if your room is small, or if you are just starting out and want something to build off of.
